Here lies Trev Albert's career

We mustn't let the football season pass any further without noting the end of Trev Albert's national TV career. It's death was self-inflicted.

Trev felt he wasn't "being respected" internally, so he decided not to show up for work on a football Saturday. They pull Beano Cook from his cyronic chamber every Saturday so he can wax about the glory that was Notre Dame back is '23, but Trev skips out? That's the only day of the week he really HAD to be there- ESPN could cover any of the other six days. Knucklehead.

I'm sure he will get another gig- CBS maybe, or FOX if they decide to spin up a weekly football show, perhaps radio- but he will never again have a pulpit with the reach of the ESPN blowtorch, and the universe it a better place for it. For of all of Albert's stupid opinions- and every talking head is paid to clutch a few tightly to his chest- the most laughable was how he was an unashamed Nebraska apologist.

NU gets thumped by Colorado, then gets a shot at the title? No problem!

NU recruits thugs to win? Why did they wait?

Also-rans like ISU think they are good enough to run with mighty NU? Ph-shaw! Pretenders! I don't care what the score was or how many games they have won the last 5 years. ALL HAIL THE GLORY THAT WAS NEBRASKA!

Because of that, I won't miss him a bit. While I realize that much of televised sports is entertainment first, I still want at least a shred of objectiveness in that entertainment, and that is where Alberts failed most often.

I liked Trev Albert. I think Lou Holtz is too stoic and no replacement for Trev Albert's fire.

I agree with Anonymous. I did not mind at all Trev's forthright honestly about his NU. But mostly, I miss the lively repartee between Trev and Mark. My loss...

Peterclone, it was just entertainment, life will be a lot better when you get rid of that chip on your shoulder as well. Also, weren't you guys supposed to win the North this year?

Here's what's stupid. Trev was right. The Saturday night show is not as good as last season because they spend way too much time on location with the Gameday crew. They now spend so much time talking about that one game, they don't even get highlights done for 1/3 of the top 25. It's reported Trev didn't like the new format, and Holy Cow, he was correct! What's stupid is that he walked out. I have a feeling things may have swung his way by this week in the season, and that the show will change back next year, as any idiot can see (and feel) the show has fallen a couple notches.

No disrespect towards Coach Holtz, who is a smart guy, but this show needs a machine gun mouth like Trev. I would love to see Jaws on this show. I know he's been doing the pro football shows for a long time, but his encyclopedic knowledge and rapid fire commentary would work great as part of ESPN's college crew. And like Mark May, when Jaws says, "You have to do xyz," no one can argue because of where he's been and what he's accomplished. Here's one vote for Ron J. to join GameDay Final!

TREV ALBERT IS A JERK. HIS COMMENTS WERE SO OFF BASE IT WAS AMAZING. THIS GUY IS A TOTAL LOSER. THIS IS NOV.12 2006. GUESS WHAT? NO OTHER NETWORK HAS PICKED THIS LOSER UP. WHAT A SHOCKER.

NO ONE MISSES THIS BONEHEAD. HE IS MOST LIKELY SELLING CARS OR INSURANCE.

Yeas later, and I still miss Trev. Holtz has no idea what is going on.
