Double

Cyclone fans enjoyed a remarkable pair of nights in Hilton. Given how many painful losses we have witnesses to the Goblas, it was fun to hand down a pair of solid wins.

For the men to hammer the Goblas the way the did was fantastic, especially with Hilton at full roar. If any of the current players didn’t understand the potential of the building at its best, they do now. And the fan base will be returning each night to help carry the team across the finish.

It’s good to be relevant again. Enjoy the ride.

Surprise

I dare say Scotty Drew was outcoached tonight.

Our Cyclones had exactly the offensive sets to get good looks against the Bears' zone, and did enough on defense to keep Baylor from finding a rhythm. The result was a win that looked a little too easy.

Granted, its hard to look bad when you are shooting 50%, but the effort and execution were there on both ends of the floor. Absolutely no hangover from the near miss against KU.

Given the disparity between the two teams on paper, this win may qualify as Magical.

Hilton Magic Creeping Back?

In light of how well Tech and Baylor have played in the B12 tourney, and yet lost in Ames (badly in the case of Baylor), one has to acknowledge that there is some degree of Hilton Magic still bouncing around the gym.

Teams don't play that badly by accident. Maybe it's the water.

A few more athletic bodies and I think things get interesting again.

Better Math

Funny what happens when players not named Brackins and Steiger score 57 points.

But giving Tech two clean looks at the game winning shot means you aren't very good. Tech missing both means Tech isn't very good. Hilton Magic at work.

I'd make ISU a 3:1 against OSU. They gave them a good half in Stillwater. Interior D and outside shooting would mean a win.

Magic

Of course, this is exactly the kind of day Hilton Magic would pick for a reappearance: struggling team coming off a horrendous road loss, awesome visitor who is probably looking past, total mismatch on talent, Cyclones have no chance.

The whole premise of Hilton Magic wasn't that ISU won every game at home but that they won the unlikely game where they played far above the norm at home, and usually far below it on the road. The visitors consistently performed at a lower level than normal to help the effort.

I'm not putting my dollar on it- just sayin' today is the perfect scenario.
